Millions of people all over the world spend theirholidays travelling. They travel to see other continents and countries, moderncities and the ruins of ancient towns. They travel to enjoy picturesque placesor just for a change of scene. It’s always interesting to discover new things,different ways of life, to meet different people, to try to different food, tolisten to different musical rhythms.

Those who live in the country like to go to the bigcity, visiting museums and art galleries, going for shopping and dining atexotic restaurants. City-dwellers usually like acquired holiday by the sea orin the mountains, with nothing to do but walk and laze in the sun.

To stay at a hotel is more comfortable. You canenjoy being alone, to take a hot shower, to sleep in warm bed and many otheradvantages. Some people enjoy camping in tents. Of course, the weather must begood for that.

There are 2 viewpoints on travel. Some people liketo go on one place and spend their holidays there. The place may be an interestingcity, a picturesque village or some other attractive place. Others believe inseeing as much as possible in the time they have.

People may travel either for pleasure or onbusiness. There are various methods of travelling. To travel by air is more comfortable,more convenient and, of course, far quicker than any other means. There is noneof the dust and dirt of a railway or car journey. With a train you have speed,comfort and pleasure combined. Travelling by ship is also very popular now. Itis very pleasant to feel the deck of the ship under the feet, to see the riseand fall of the waves, to feel the fresh sea wind blowing in the face and hearthe cry of the seagulls. Many people like to travel by car. It is interesting,because you can see many filings in a short time, you can stop when and whereyou like, you do not have to buy tickets or carry your suitcases. A verypopular method of travelling is hiking. It is travelling on foot. Hitch-hikingis a very popular method of travelling among young people. But it is not sopopular in Russia because it’s not so safety as abroad.

All means of travel have their advantages anddisadvantages. And people choose one according to their likes and dislikes,plans and destinations.
